Summary
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has a community of teaching artists spanning five disciplines and this publication sought to highlight the innovative work of their artistic community. This document details educators who have made the transition from the professional artistic world to take their first steps in research and knowledge exchange.
The design for this piece of literature involved creating a flexible and creative layout to reflect the creativity of the institution, while adhering to the existing brand guidelines of the client. Our design concept was based around the clients’ corporate typeface as it lends itself to strong usage and large titles. This typographic style was coupled with the colour palette to answer the brief in a way that sets the publication apart, while at the same time maintaining the brand style.Â
The brief stated that the publication must have a strong point of difference and sense of individuality. This was important for the client as they wished to stand out not from similar publications produced and more importantly from another publication produced in 2017.
The layout is anchored on a strong grid system which provided consistency but also flexibility to allow the strong images and information to have maximum impact. The design has been created to allow the info an images room to breathe, using white space as a positive aspect to enhance the overall look and feel.
