Summary
The Review is a publication designed to highlight the achievements and accomplishments of the students, alumni and staff over a 12 month period.
The design for this issue involved creating a flexible and creative layout to reflect the creativity of the institution. The layout was underpinned by the existing brand guidelines of the client in terms of photographic style, typography and colour palette.
Our brief was to create a memorable publication that had a magazine look and feel to it. Although it is only produced once a year, the nature of the audience, content and usage dictates the requirement for a less formal approach to the document.
Our design concept was heavily based around one of the corporate typeface as it lends itself to strong usage and large titles. This typographic style was coupled with the clients colour palette to answer the brief in a way that sets the publication apart. The brief stated that the publication have a strong point of difference and sense of individuality. This was important for the client as they wished to stand out not only from existing Conservatoire publications but also from similar publications produced by other performing arts institutions.
