Recycle Scotland, a division of workplace fit-out consultancy Space Solutions, has unveiled its new look to promote its ‘reuse first’ service.
With just 17% of unwanted furniture recycled in the UK, equating to 3m tonnes of landfill, Recycle Scotland was formed in 2010 to address a gap in the market for businesses wishing to burnish their environmental credentials by joining the circular economy.
Picking up unwanted office furniture to resell or recycle their parts the organisation has seen demand for its services rise four-fold in the past four years as environmental concerns rise up the corporate agenda.
The bold new identity reflects an evolution from a small-scale collections service to a major player in the rapidly growing pre-loved market, by playing matchmaker to businesses disposing of unwanted items and those looking to update their spaces.
Drew Carmichael, director of Recycle Scotland commented: “Over the last 14 years we’ve grown from our roots in office furniture recycling to providing whole life sustainable furniture solutions on a much wider scale. We’re keeping that ethos at our heart as we reimagine what Recycle Scotland can offer, retaining a circular model while looking at new ways to revolutionise furniture recycling for the better – to the benefit of businesses, who receive a cost-effective and environmentally-conscious service”.
Focussed on the higher education market Recycle Scotland aims to normalise the use of second-hand furniture over purchasing new.
