Spirit Label Solutions has lit the way ahead for its £5m new warehouse with a customised lighting scheme as it seeks to shake-up the staid world of specialised printing.
The drinks industry-specific labelling business has combined indoor, outdoor and emergency lighting for the blank industrial canvas of its Renfrew manufacturing base as it seeks to fully digitise the provision of print.
Illuminated by Electrical Solutions on behalf of Advanced Building Contractors, the warehouse is bathed in steady light at all hours of the day to keep the Scotch Whisky industry covered.
Chris Bryant, group managing director of Electrical Solutions, commented: “When we visited the site with Luceco, we carried out a survey and produced a lighting design to meet their requirements. One thing we knew we had to get right was the balance of natural lighting in the space. The warehouse featured big skylights, which in the day provided the best natural light that wasn’t too warm or cold. We needed to replicate the same natural light when it got darker as accurate colour rendering is essential for printing environments and so LED lighting was an ideal solution.”
A requirement for accurate colour rendering with minimal variation in output and none of the strobe effects associated with traditional lamps, pushed the team towards ceiling-mounted LED fixtures to illuminate the production area and surface-mounted panels for an associated office.
Spirit Label Solutions was formed earlier this year by Labelgraphics and MCC Label veterans Alex Mulvenny, Tom Lightbody, Finlay McLachlan, Jamie Thomson and Chris Crockert.
