Shakara x Felabration

Collaborating with renowned artist Lemi Ghariokwu, Pim-Pam embarked on an innovative venture aimed at both amplifying Nigeria's burgeoning craft beer movement and paying homage to its rich cultural heritage.
With a longstanding partnership with Bature Brewery, our mission has always been to authentically engage Nigerian audiences through compelling storytelling. Recognising the nuanced dynamics of the West African market, we've endeavoured to connect with local artists like Lemi Ghariokwu, celebrated for his iconic album artworks for Fela Kuti.
As part of Bature Brewery's expansion efforts, our collaboration with Lemi entailed the creation of their pioneering beer, Shakara, and the development of the visual identity for Felabration 2023, an annual festival commemorating Fela Kuti's legacy. Infused with Nigerian botanical zobo, Shakara pays homage to Lagos's vibrant culture with its vivid pink hue and tantalising notes of strawberry and pomegranate.
Our partnership with Lemi Ghariokwu resulted in a harmonious fusion of flavors and visuals that not only celebrate Fela Kuti's enduring legacy but also cement Lagos's status as a cultural epicentre, magnifying the essence of Afrobeats. The packaging design for Shakara mirrors Lemi's artistic motifs while remaining true to the product's essence, epitomising a seamless blend of tradition and innovation.
Reflecting on our collaboration, Lemi underscores the innate synergy between Bature Brewery and his artistic ethos, rooted in a mutual reverence for Fela Kuti and the vibrant tapestry of Lagos. Together, we've crafted a project that reveres Nigeria's multifaceted cultural heritage while championing the ethos of collaboration and creativity.
